The seven themes below organize the conversations, essays, interviews, and reflections published in only love ART. Each approaches the world from a different angle — through seeing, listening, movement, language, daily practice, contemplation, or travel — yet all are connected by a shared belief that we are inherently creative, and that art can deepen our understanding of ourselves, one another, and the world we inhabit.

Visual Art

How do we learn to see?

Visual Art explores photography, painting, sculpture, installation, and other image-based practices, and the ways artists help us see with artists’ eyes, without pre-judgment, to recognize what’s been overlooked, and attend to the world with renewed care. Through interviews, essays, and exhibition features, we look at how artists transform memory, place, history, and imagination into forms that reshape our understanding of ourselves and the world.

How do we experience presence?

Performing Arts follows dance, theater, performance art, and interdisciplinary works that unfold through movement, presence, and encounter. These articles explore what happens when ideas become embodied and when artists invite audiences into shared experiences of vulnerability, ritual, and transformation.

How do we listen?

We approach music as a practice of deep listening, to oneself and to the sounds and dynamics of the world, and response. Through conversations with composers, musicians, and other sound artists, we explore music as meditation, improvisation, and shared somatic experience.

How do we find language for experience?

Literature brings together writers, poets, translators, and thinkers. From fiction and poetry to essays and conversations, these pieces explore language as both a lens and a medium while bringing to life stories and people who have been marginalized or misunderstood.

Life is art, but how can we live in the world as artists do?

The Artist Life examines the daily realities, challenges, and choices that shape creative practice over time. These stories explore process, vocation, community, resilience, and the many ways artists sustain meaningful lives, bringing art to life and offering examples of how to live in authentic and creative engagement with the world.

What captures our attention right now?

Notes gathers shorter reflections, observations, and responses to exhibitions, performances, books, and cultural moments. Less formal than a feature article, these pieces offer glimpses into ongoing conversations and evolving ideas.

What happens when we step beyond the familiar?

Travel & Encounter explores places, cultures, and unexpected meetings that expand our sense of connection. So much of modern life is grounded in familiar routine and procedure. These articles approach travel not as consumption but as a practice of nurturing curiosity, following intuition, and remembering oneself through chance encounters.
